Our story
Seventy years in one valley
Silver State Glass has cut and set glass in Las Vegas since 1953, which makes it the oldest glazing company in the city.
Eric and Tera Hooiman own it now, having bought the company in 2023, seventy years into its run, and kept what already worked. It’s a licensed Nevada C-8 shop with an unlimited bid limit. We cut and fabricate our own glass on East Fremont Street, and we self-perform the work rather than broker it out, so one company owns the result. The range runs from a single cracked pane to storefront systems, curtain wall, mirrors and custom glass, residential and commercial both.

Who does the work
Eric Hooiman
Owner
Eric came to glass from engineering and gold mining, by way of fixing businesses that were not working. He bought Silver State in 2023, seventy years into its run, because a company that has survived that long in this valley is worth more than a new one. Most of what he does is unglamorous: better systems, better information, better answers when a customer calls. He would rather quote the job right than quote it fast, and he would rather tell you no than tell you something that turns out not to be true.
Tera Hooiman
President
Tera is an eighth-generation Nevadan, which in this state is close to nobility. She ran an event company for twelve years before this, sat on the City of Elko Planning Commission, serves on 501(c) boards, and is a commissioned Notary. She is also the proud mamma of a D1 athlete, which she will mention before she mentions any of the rest of it. She holds the license and the last word on how this company treats people.
Brent
Field Superintendent
Brent is a Master Glazier with forty-two years in the trade, which means he has installed glass in this valley longer than most of our competitors have existed. He runs the field and he runs safety, and he treats those as the same job. If a crew is on a lift on Fremont Street at six in the morning, Brent has already decided how they are getting down.
Samantha Smith
Project Manager
Sam came up through estimating, so she has seen most of these jobs before they were jobs, back when they were a set of drawings and a number. That turns out to be a useful place to run projects from. She knows what got quoted, what the glass actually costs, and where a schedule usually slips. Her job is keeping the crew, the glass and the general contractor pointed at the same date.
Lee Beck
Estimator
Lee is a Journeyman Union Glazier with thirty-one years in glass, twenty-three of them in the field before he moved to estimating. That matters more than it sounds. He has hung the material he is now pricing, so when he reads a set of drawings he is seeing a job, not a spreadsheet. Every bid that leaves this office has been through him.
Pam
Director of Finance
Pam has spent decades in bookkeeping, payroll and financial compliance, and she runs the side of the business nobody thanks anyone for. Invoices go out correctly. People get paid on time. When a general contractor’s accounting department calls with a question, Pam already has the answer open.
