- Drags or sticks. Heavy to slide, or it grinds along the track. Usually the rollers.
- Jumps the track. The door pops out of the bottom channel. Rollers or a bent track.
- Won’t lock. The latch misses or won’t catch. Hardware or an out-of-square door.
- Foggy glass. Haze between the panes. A failed seal on a dual-pane door.
- Broken pane. Cracked or shattered glass in the door itself.

Most common fix
Roller and track repair
A dragging patio door is almost always the rollers. They wear flat, seize up, or the track they ride in gets packed with grit and bent.
We replace the rollers, clean or replace the track, and get the door gliding again. It’s the most common sliding-door job we do, and the one people don’t believe is fixable until they slide the door with one finger afterward. Roller replacement depends on the door and the roller system, which we identify from a photo. We carry the common roller and track systems and finish most jobs in one visit; when a part has to be ordered, vendor delivery sets the date, which we confirm at measure.
Glass only
Glass replacement in a sliding door
The glass in a patio door has to be tempered by code, because it’s a big pane where people walk. So we don’t cut it to size in the field. We order the tempered unit made to your door.
If the glass is cracked, or a dual-pane panel has fogged from a failed seal, we replace the glass and leave the frame and rollers in place where they’re sound. Cheaper than a whole new door. Ordered glass typically arrives in 3 to 5 business days.
