Fire-Rated Glass Installation Las Vegas

Fire-rated glass Las Vegas businesses and property managers rely on is supplied and installed by Silver State Glass & Mirror. We install complete fire-rated glass assemblies for commercial buildings throughout Las Vegas, Henderson, and the surrounding Clark County area. Fire-rated glazing is required by building codes in specific locations — stairwells, corridors, lobby walls, elevator enclosures, and any wall assembly that must maintain a fire-resistance rating.

We supply and install the complete fire-rated assembly: glass, framing, hardware, and labeling. Every installation meets IBC, NFPA, and Clark County fire code requirements. Licensed NV #0004490A. Serving Las Vegas since 1953.

Fire-Rated Glass Products We Install

Wired Glass. Traditional fire-rated glass with an embedded wire mesh. Rated for up to 90 minutes in approved frames. Being phased out for impact safety concerns but still code-compliant in many applications.

Ceramic Glass (Pyran, Neoceram). Clear fire-rated glass without visible wire. Withstands thermal shock and is rated for 20 to 180 minutes depending on the product. Higher clarity than wired glass.

Tempered Fire-Rated Glass. Fire-rated glass that also meets impact safety requirements (CPSC 16 CFR 1201). Used where both fire rating and human impact safety are required — doors, sidelites, and glass near walking surfaces.

Fire-Rated Insulated Glass Units (IGUs). Dual-pane fire-rated assemblies that provide both fire resistance and thermal insulation. Used in exterior walls and curtain wall systems that require fire ratings.

Where Fire-Rated Glass Is Required

Building codes require fire-rated glazing in specific locations. Common applications in Las Vegas commercial buildings include stairwell enclosures and exit corridors, elevator lobby walls and smoke barriers, fire-rated wall assemblies with glazed openings, doors in fire-rated partitions (20, 45, 60, or 90-minute ratings), sidelites adjacent to fire-rated doors, transoms above fire-rated doors, and property line walls with required fire separation.

The required fire rating depends on the wall assembly classification, building occupancy type, and the specific code provisions that apply to the opening.

Complete Fire-Rated Assemblies

Fire-rated glass only works as part of a complete rated assembly. The glass, frame, hardware, and glazing method must all be listed and tested together. You cannot simply put fire-rated glass into a standard aluminum frame and call it rated.

We install complete assemblies including fire-rated steel frames (hollow metal frames with proper anchoring and fire-stopping), fire-rated aluminum frames (thermally improved aluminum systems with intumescent gaskets), fire-rated doors (complete door assemblies with rated glass, frames, hardware, and labeling), and fire-rated glazing gaskets and sealants (intumescent materials that expand during fire to seal the opening). Every fire-rated assembly we install includes the required labels and documentation for inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions — Fire-Rated Glass Las Vegas

How much does fire-rated glass cost in Las Vegas?
Fire-rated glass costs more than standard glass due to the specialized products and tested assembly requirements. Costs vary depending on fire rating required (20, 45, 60, or 90 minutes), glass type, frame type, and opening size. Call (702) 382-1400 for a free estimate on your specific project.

What is the difference between fire-rated glass and tempered glass?
Tempered glass is a safety glass that resists impact and shatters into small pieces, but it provides no fire resistance. Fire-rated glass is specifically tested and certified to resist the passage of flames and heat for a defined time period. Some fire-rated products also meet impact safety requirements, but not all tempered glass is fire-rated.

Does fire-rated glass need a special frame?
Yes. Fire-rated glass must be installed in a listed, tested frame as part of a complete assembly. The glass, frame, hardware, and installation method must all be from a tested assembly. Installing fire-rated glass in a standard frame does not produce a code-compliant fire-rated opening.

How long does fire-rated glass installation take?
Most commercial fire-rated glass installations are completed in one to two days depending on the number of openings, building access, and frame preparation required. We coordinate with your general contractor or building manager to minimize disruption.

Do you service fire-rated glass for existing Las Vegas buildings?
Yes. We service, repair, and replace fire-rated glass assemblies in existing Las Vegas commercial buildings including offices, hotels, hospitals, schools, and multi-family properties. Call us at (702) 382-1400.
