How much weight can a glass shelf hold?
A 3/8 inch tempered glass shelf in the 24 to 36 inch range can typically hold 50 to 100 pounds when properly bracketed. Half-inch glass handles 150 pounds or more. The bracket placement matters as much as the thickness.
Is tempered glass required for shelves?
Yes, and it is what we use for all our shelves. Tempered glass is four to five times stronger than regular glass, and if it breaks, it shatters into small blunt pieces instead of sharp shards. Standard glass shelves are a safety risk, especially in homes with children.
Can glass shelves be cut to a custom size?
Every shelf we make is custom cut to your exact dimensions. We do not sell standard sizes off a rack. Bring your measurements or we can come out and measure the space, then fabricate and install in a single visit in most cases.
What edge finish options are there for glass shelves?
We polish every shelf edge before installation. Flat polish gives a clean square edge. Pencil polish rounds the edge slightly for a softer look. Beveled edges add a decorative angle that catches light. Hardware is available in chrome, brushed nickel, brass, and matte black to match your fixtures.
