Ordering
How to order
Getting a piece of glass cut is simple if you measure it right. Here’s how it works.
- Measure. Width, then height, then thickness. Measure the opening the glass sits in, not the old glass, since old glass can be chipped or wrong.
- Send it. Bring the measurements to the shop on Fremont, or send them with a photo.
- Collect or delivered. Pick it up, or we deliver. We’ll tell you which makes sense for the size.

Materials
What we cut
We cut glass and plastic to size in the shop, and we stock 1/8″, 3/16″, 1/4″, 3/8″ and 1/2″. We haven’t found a size we can’t handle yet.
- Annealed. Standard glass for frames, cabinets and shelves.
- Laminated. Bonded safety glass, cut to size.
- Mirror. Cut and edged to fit. See Custom Mirrors.
- Acrylic and plexiglass. Lighter and shatter-resistant.
- Polycarbonate. The tough one, for impact-prone spots.
One thing we can’t cut: tempered glass. More on that below.
Plastics
Plexiglass and acrylic
When glass is too heavy or too breakable for the spot, acrylic and plexiglass do the job. We cut both to size for tabletop covers, cabinet fronts, sneeze guards, picture glazing and light panels. Lighter than glass, and it won’t shatter.
Edges
Edge finishing
A cut edge is sharp and raw. We finish it so it’s safe and looks right.
- Seamed. A light grind that takes the sharp edge off. The minimum for anything you’ll handle.
- Ground. A flat, matte finished edge.
- Polished. A smooth, clear edge for glass that shows.
- Beveled. An angled, polished border for a decorative piece. Bevel work goes to a specialist we use, with a fast turnaround.

Custom shapes
Shapes and cutouts
Not everything is a rectangle. We cut radius corners, circles, holes for hardware and faucets, and notches to fit around trim and outlets. Give us a template or a drawing with measurements and we’ll match it.
